Lymond Scorpio china mug

£16.50

Astrology features significantly across both the Lymond Chronicles and The House of Niccolò but Lymond is unquestionably the character most astrologised, whether he wanted to be or not. It therefore seemed fitting to use Lymond’s horoscope as the inspiration for this wonderful new mug design.
Building on a horoscope commissioned by Dorothy Dunnett herself, this design features both a period-appropriate (and astrologically correct) renaissance style chart overlaid with a stunning Scorpion.
The selected quote, taken from Checkmate, captures a particularly fitting, and barbed, witticism from Lymond, in Dorothy Dunnett’s inimitable style: “‘Scorpio’, Lymond said, ‘does not caper. He stings.”
On the base of the mug you’ll find the Society’s logo. It will be posted in a sturdy and secure individual box.
Special thanks must go to two of the Society’s many talented artist members, without whom this miniature work of art would never have happened: Monica Murray, who helped hone the early design ideas, and Joyce Graham, whose skill, patience and creativity in executing her brief was inspiring.
Please do take the time to check out the other 3 mug designs in this beautiful series.
The mug’s particulars are as follows:
This china mug stands 9cm tall and has a diameter of 8.5cm. It weighs 238g. Handwashing is recommended.
