Whispering Gallery, Issue 161
£6.00
The Dunnett Archive contains several documents that were written by readers and shared with Dorothy Dunnett, who had them preserved alongside her papers. In this issue, we publish for the first time a long-form study in defence of Primaflora, written in the 1990s when speculation about the Niccolò books was in full swing.
We publish an account of the commissioning of a very special gift for Dunnett by a group of readers, and we explore how Johnson Johnson’s identity is reinforced by his eyewear and how his spectacles represent ways of seeing.
A historian discusses the distinction between writing historical fact and fiction. We begin a four-part Dunnett Book of Hours, a reader describes his first encounter with The Lymond Chronicles, and we conclude our series on fashion with an overview of the clothing worn by Lymond and his peers.
