The Dunnett Weekend 2027
Dunnett Weekend 2027
23-25 April
Caledonian Hotel, Osborne Road, Jesmond, Newcastle, NE2 2AT
Save the Date! By popular demand the next Dunnett Weekend will be held in Newcastle.

Plans for the Weekend
The conference will be a mix of academic lectures and opportunities to discuss the novels and have fun about them. There will be the usual Welcome Meal on the Friday evening, Gala dinner on the Saturday and outing on the Sunday. If you have never been to a Dorothy Dunnett conference before, do not hesitate: it is always a friendly and inclusive event and many attendees travel solo.
The Caledonian Hotel is in the leafy suburb of Jesmond, billed as Newcastle’s Notting Hill. It is a short walk from the new metro system which runs from both Newcastle International Airport and the central railway station. There is ample parking at the hotel and step free access from the carpark as well as taxi drop off location. Every room has been recently refurbished. The conference suite has plenty of natural light, a private bar and outdoor terrace.
If you can tear yourself away from the many cafés, parks and bakeries within easy walking distance, the delights of Hadrian’s Wall, Bamburgh Castle, Alnwick Castle, Warkworth Castle, Durham and Hexham await – so you may wish to stay an extra day or two. The Sunday outing is still at the planning stage, but the front runner is Hexham and its Abbey, which features memorably in The Game of Kings.
Bookings for the hotel and for the conference will open in January.
