Whispering Gallery, Issue 137

£6.00

In 1990, Arrow Books reissued The Lymond Chronicles and King Hereafter in the UK with cover graphics by an illustrator better known for his work in the fantasy genre. In this issue of Whispering Gallery, we have an interview with the artist and learn how those covers came to be produced.

The short story competition launched earlier this year by the Historical Writers’ Association in collaboration with the Dorothy Dunnett Society proved a great success, with nearly 170 entries submitted. We are delighted to publish the winning story.

There’s more from the Dunnett Archive in Boston, as well as from the Tribute Book. We have a new reader’s response to The House of Niccolò, and we examine the symbolism of angels.

Finally, as a bonus to members, we hope you enjoy our sensational, seasonal, penny-dreadful take on a Dickensian favourite, A Dunnett Christmas Carol. There’s a competition, too ...
