International Dorothy Dunnett Day (IDDD)

The first International Dorothy Dunnett Day (IDDD) took place to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the publication of The Game of Kings on 15th October 2011. Since then every year, on the Saturday in November closest to the date of Dorothy Dunnett’s death, Dunnett groups around the world raise a toast to Dorothy Dunnett.

IDDD happens wherever Dunnett fans are gathered together. At 1:00pm, wherever in the world we are, we raise our glasses for a toast, “To Dorothy and absent friends.”

All are welcome, whether you’re a member of the Dorothy Dunnett Society or not. All you need to qualify is a love of Dorothy Dunnett’s books (partners and friends are welcome too)!

Want to plan, host or attend a gathering?

Email iddd@ddsoc.org for more information, fill out this Co-ordinator Interest Form or look for the gathering closest to you in this year’s Event, which we will update as gatherings are planned.

Don’t see a local option? Start your own!

Anywhere two or more Dunnett fans get together counts as an IDDD gathering: in your home, at the local pub, in a library. If no Dunnett readers are nearby, remote/video gatherings are of course very welcome. Tell us about your IDDD plans if you’d like to invite others nearby to join you. Share on social media. Tell everyone you know about Dorothy Dunnett and her books.
