This year’s Edinburgh gathering and AGM at the Royal Over-Seas League attracted over ninety participants and we were delighted to welcome our speakers, prizewinners, members and friends from France, Germany, Iceland, Canada and the USA in addition to the UK delegates. Events kicked off with dinner at the Sheraton on Friday night, followed on Saturday by a day of talks and discussions at the RO-SL, culminating in the AGM at which Anne Buchanan stepped down as a Trustee and Ann Auchterlonie was elected. A Gala Dinner (complete with piper) rounded off the day in spectacular fashion. Sunday’s events included a guided tour of Edinburgh Castle with a “high tea” lunch; optional visits to the Surgeons’ Hall or the Royal Mile; a tour of Mary King’s Close; and finally a very special private tour of the Royal Apartments at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
